بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
١ اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِينَ
Al-hamdu lillahi Rabbil 'aalameen
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds.
اَلْحَمْدُThe praise

الْعٰلَمِينَof the worlds
٢ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Ar-Rahmaanir-Raheem
The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

٣ مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
Maaliki yawmid-deen
Master of the Day of Judgment.
مٰلِكِMaster/Owner
يَوْمِDay
الدِّينِof Judgment
٤ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
Iyyaaka na'budu wa iyyaaka nasta'een
You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.
إِيَّاكَYou alone
نَعْبُدُwe worship
وَإِيَّاكَand You alone
نَسْتَعِينُwe ask for help
٥ اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Ihdinas-siraatal-mustaqeem
Guide us to the straight path.
اِهْدِنَاGuide us
الصِّرَاطَthe path
الْمُسْتَقِيمَthe straight
٦ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ
Siraatal-ladheena an'amta 'alayhim
The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor.

أَنْعَمْتَYou bestowed favor
عَلَيْهِمْupon them
٧ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّآلِّينَ
Ghayril-maghdoobi 'alayhim wa lad-daalleen
Not of those who have earned [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
غَيْرِNot
الْمَغْضُوبِthose angered
عَلَيْهِمْupon them
وَلَاand not
الضَّآلِّينَthose astray
📖 Key Points
• Al-Fatiha is recited in every unit (rak'ah) of prayer - it is essential.
• The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no prayer for the one who does not recite Fatihat al-Kitab." (Bukhari & Muslim)
• It is called "The Mother of the Quran" because it contains the essence of the entire Quran.
• Say "آمين" (Aameen) after finishing, meaning "O Allah, answer our prayer."
