Step-by-Step Guide to Performing Prayer
١
القِيَام وَتَكْبِيرَةُ الإِحْرَام - Standing & Opening Takbir
Standing with hands raised
Standing facing Qiblah
Stand upright, face the Qiblah, make intention in heart, raise hands to shoulder/ear level:
اللهُ أَكْبَر
Allahu Akbar
"Allah is the Greatest"
Place right hand over left on chest. Focus your eyes on the place of prostration.

دُعَاءُ الاسْتِفْتَاح - Opening Supplication (Sunnah)
Standing with hands folded
سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، وَتَبَارَكَ اسْمُكَ، وَتَعَالَى جَدُّكَ، وَلَا إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ
Subhaanakal-laahumma wa bihamdik, wa tabaarakas-muk, wa ta'aalaa jadduk, wa laa ilaaha ghayruk
"Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise. Blessed is Your name, exalted is Your majesty, and there is no god but You."
٣
الاسْتِعَاذَة وَالبَسْمَلَة - Seeking Refuge & Bismillah
أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيم
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيم
A'oodhu billaahi minash-shaytaanir-rajeem. Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem
"I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."
٤
قِرَاءَةُ الفَاتِحَة - Recite Al-Fatiha
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِينَ ۝ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ مٰلِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ ۝ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ ۝ اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ ۝ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ ۝ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّآلِّينَ
After finishing: Say "آمين" (Aameen)
Al-Fatiha is obligatory in every rak'ah. The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is no prayer for one who does not recite Al-Fatiha." (Bukhari)

قِرَاءَةُ سُورَة - Additional Recitation
Recite any Surah or verses from Quran (in 1st and 2nd rak'ah). Example - Surah Al-Ikhlas:
قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ ۝ اَللهُ الصَّمَدُ ۝ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ ۝ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ

الرُّكُوع - Bowing

Say "اللهُ أَكْبَر" while raising hands, then bow with back straight, hands on knees:
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيم
Subhaana Rabbiyal-'Adheem
"Glory be to my Lord, the Almighty" (Say 3 times or more)

الرَّفْعُ مِنَ الرُّكُوع - Rising from Bowing
Standing after bowing
Standing Straight
Rise while saying:
سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ
Sami'allaahu liman hamidah
"Allah hears those who praise Him"
Then when standing upright, say:
رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْد
Rabbanaa wa lakal-hamd
"Our Lord, to You belongs all praise"

السُّجُودُ الأَوَّل - First Prostration

Say "اللهُ أَكْبَر" and prostrate on 7 bones (forehead+nose, 2 hands, 2 knees, 2 feet):
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى
Subhaana Rabbiyal-A'laa
"Glory be to my Lord, the Most High" (Say 3 times or more)
Make dua in sujood - the closest you are to Allah is in prostration. (Muslim)

الجُلُوسُ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْن - Sitting Between Prostrations

Rise saying "اللهُ أَكْبَر", sit with left foot under you, right foot upright:
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي، رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي
Rabbighfir lee, Rabbighfir lee
"My Lord, forgive me. My Lord, forgive me."

السُّجُودُ الثَّانِي - Second Prostration
Prostration position
Same as first prostration - say "اللهُ أَكْبَر" and prostrate:
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى
This completes ONE RAK'AH. Rise saying "اللهُ أَكْبَر" to start the next rak'ah.
