التَّشَهُّد الأَوَّل - First Tashahhud
📍 When to Recite
After the 2nd rak'ah of any prayer that has 3 or 4 rak'ahs. Sit on left foot, right foot upright.
التَّحِيَّات - At-Tahiyyat
التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلّٰهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَى عِبَادِ اللهِ الصَّالِحِينَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ
At-tahiyyaatu lillaahi was-salawaatu wat-tayyibaat. As-salaamu 'alayka ayyuhan-nabiyyu wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh. As-salaamu 'alaynaa wa 'alaa 'ibaadillaahis-saaliheen. Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallaahu wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasooluh.
All compliments, prayers and pure words are for Allah. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous slaves of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Pointing with Index Finger: Point and move your right index finger during the testimony (أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللهُ). This is from the Sunnah.
التَّشَهُّد الأَخِير - Final Tashahhud
📍 When to Recite
In the last rak'ah of every prayer. After At-Tahiyyat, add the Salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى النَّبِي ﷺ - Salawat Ibrahim
اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
Allaahumma salli 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa aali Muhammad, kamaa sallayta 'alaa Ibraaheema wa 'alaa aali Ibraaheem, innaka Hameedun Majeed. Allaahumma baarik 'alaa Muhammadin wa 'alaa aali Muhammad, kamaa baarakta 'alaa Ibraaheema wa 'alaa aali Ibraaheem, innaka Hameedun Majeed.
O Allah, send prayers upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and upon the family of Ibrahim. You are indeed Praiseworthy, Glorious.
التَّسْلِيم - Ending the Prayer
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ
As-salaamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullaah
"Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you"
📍 How to Give Tasleem
- Turn your head to the right and say: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ
- Turn your head to the left and say: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ
📝 Optional Duas Before Tasleem
It is recommended to make the following dua before giving tasleem:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ
"O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hellfire, from the punishment of the grave, from the trials of living and dying, and from the trial of the False Messiah."
