This is the pinnacle of Hajj - the Day of Arafat. Millions of pilgrims stand in supplication on the plains where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ delivered his Farewell Sermon. It is a rehearsal for the Day of Judgment.
"There is no day on which Allah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of Arafat."
— Sahih Muslim
Pray Fajr, then wait for sunrise. Continue reciting Talbiyah and making Dhikr.
Travel from Mina to the plains of Arafat via Metro or bus. The journey can take hours due to crowds.
Combine Dhuhr + Asr at the time of Dhuhr (Jam' Taqdeem). One Adhan, two Iqamahs. This frees the rest of the day for Dua.
This is the essence of Hajj. Stand (or sit), face the Qiblah, raise your hands, and make continuous Dua until sunset. Weep, beg for forgiveness, and pray for yourself and the Ummah.
Do NOT pray Maghrib in Arafat. Leave immediately after sunset for Muzdalifah.
Upon arrival, combine Maghrib (3) + Isha (2). Collect 49-70 pebbles for Jamarat. Sleep under the open sky.
After sunset, pilgrims move from Arafat to Muzdalifah - an open plain between Arafat and Mina.
Combine Maghrib (3) + Isha (2) at the time of Isha (Jam' Ta'kheer). One Adhan, two Iqamahs.
Collect 49-70 pea-sized pebbles for the Jamarat stoning. It's easier to find them here than in Mina.
Sleep on the ground under the open sky. This primitive state reminds us of human equality before Allah.
Hanafi: Stay until at least a moment after Fajr
Shafi'i/Maliki: Stay until after midnight
Women, elderly, and weak individuals may leave after midnight to avoid the morning crush.
