Surah Al-Falaq | The Daybreak | 5 Ayat | Makki | Surah 113
Seeking Refuge in the Lord of the Dawn
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
١ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
Qul a'oodhu bi-Rabbil-falaq
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak."
قُلْSay
أَعُوذُI seek refuge
بِرَبِّin the Lord
الْفَلَقِof daybreak
٢ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
Min sharri maa khalaq
From the evil of that which He created.
مِنْFrom
شَرِّevil
مَاwhat
خَلَقَHe created
٣ وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
Wa min sharri ghaasiqin idhaa waqab
And from the evil of darkness when it settles.
وَمِنْAnd from
شَرِّevil
غَاسِقٍdarkness
إِذَاwhen
وَقَبَit settles
٤ وَمِنْ شَرِّ النَّفّٰثٰتِ فِى الْعُقَدِ
Wa min sharrin-naffaathaati fil-'uqad
And from the evil of the blowers in knots.
وَمِنْAnd from
شَرِّevil
النَّفّٰثٰتِthose who blow
فِىin
الْعُقَدِthe knots
٥ وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
Wa min sharri haasidin idhaa hasad
And from the evil of an envier when he envies.
وَمِنْAnd from
شَرِّevil
حَاسِدٍenvier
إِذَاwhen
حَسَدَhe envies
📖 About This Surah
• This Surah seeks protection from all types of evil: creation, darkness, magic, and envy.
• "Al-Falaq" means the daybreak - Allah is the One who splits the darkness with light.
• The Prophet ﷺ recommended reciting this with Surah An-Nas three times in the morning and evening.
• It protects from evil eye (حسد) and black magic (سحر).
