Qul yaa ayyuhal-kaafiruun
Say, "O disbelievers."
Laa a'budu maa ta'buduun
I do not worship what you worship.
Wa laa antum 'aabiduuna maa a'bud
Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.
Wa laa ana 'aabidum maa 'abadtum
Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.
Wa laa antum 'aabiduuna maa a'bud
Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.
Lakum deenukum wa liya deen
For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.
📖 About This Surah
• This Surah declares complete disassociation from shirk (polytheism).
• The Prophet ﷺ said it equals one-quarter of the Quran. (Tirmidhi)
• It should be recited in the first rak'ah of Sunnah prayers of Fajr and Maghrib, along with Surah Al-Ikhlas in the second.
• It was revealed when the Quraysh offered to compromise on worship - which Islam firmly rejects.
