Tabbat yadaa abee lahabiw-wa tabb
May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.
Maa aghnaa 'anhu maaluhoo wa maa kasab
His wealth will not benefit him nor what he has earned.
Sa-yaslaa naaran dhaata lahab
He will burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame,
Wamra-atuhoo hammaalatal-hatab
And his wife - the carrier of firewood,
Fee jeedihaa hablum-mim-masad
Around her neck will be a rope of palm fiber.
✨ A Living Miracle of the Quran
This Surah was revealed early in Makkah when Abu Lahab was alive and powerful. Allah declared that he and his wife would NEVER believe and would enter Hell.
Abu Lahab lived for about 10+ more years after this revelation. All he had to do was say "I believe" to disprove the Quran - but he never did!
This is proof that the Quran is from Allah - no human would make such a bold, falsifiable prediction unless they were certain of divine knowledge.
📖 About This Surah
• Abu Lahab was the Prophet's ﷺ uncle, but one of Islam's fiercest enemies.
• His real name was 'Abd al-'Uzza, but he was called Abu Lahab (Father of Flame) due to his handsome, glowing face - ironically, he will burn in flames.
• His wife, Umm Jamil, used to throw thorns in the Prophet's ﷺ path.
• "Carrier of firewood" = literally carried thorns, and figuratively spread gossip (carrying tales).
• Both died as disbelievers - exactly as Allah decreed.
